Like most jobs, being an artist has its own set of challenges, particularly when experiencing
work-related pressures.
By sharing this we hope reduce stigma and encourage others to seek
support.
After my first book became a best-selling book, I was pressured by the book publishers to write the second instalment of my book. I struggled to write anything for months and was feeling frustrated and defeated. Spending hours in my office researching and feeling stuck! My wife encouraged me to connect with The Creative Mind who helped me identify my block! I realised that I have forgotten to enjoy the other things in life that brought me happiness.. My family. I was able to finally find inspiration and now my second book is in printing!!

As a UX/UI designer, I loved my job but the pressure took a toll on my mental health. I was working long hours, missing out on social activities, and feeling overwhelmed by the demands of my job. I was diagnosed with depression including a lack of energy, decreased motivation, and feelings of hopelessness. One day, I came across this event in collaboration with The Creative Mind. It was about managing stress via meditation. I struggled at the beginning to focus but then with time I noticed that I was feeling calmer and more centered, even in the midst of my demanding job. My thoughts and emotions were clearer, and I was able to approach my work with a new sense of balance and perspective. Today, I prioritising self-care and time for friends and family!
It’s important for you to know that if you feel like finding it tough to perform the tasks you need to do as part of your job., you’re not alone and you shouldn’t feel ashamed. Many people struggle with their mental health at work. Depression is more common than you think and should not be left untreated.
I am a painter in my 50s and have always loved painting. But despite my talent, I have struggled with unstable income and back to back bills. This affected my self-esteem and my work. One day, a friend of mine connected me with Mark at The Creative Mind, who encouraged and helped me to share my paintings. His branding expertise taught me the importance of marketing and networking. Today I have built my own networks of art enthusiasts, collectors, and galleries. This wouldn’t be possible without the supportive community. I was able to overcome my self-doubt and turn my passion into a successful career.
Lack of confidence in oneself and one's abilities is known as self-doubt. It's a way of thinking that stops you from succeeding and having confidence in yourself. You should value yourself more!
My love for music started since I was literally born! I produced new sounds and created successful music in the past but found myself feeling burnt out and overwhelmed by the demands of the music industry. To cope with the stress, I turned to alcohol. I started drinking after work and soon found himself relying on it more and more to relax and unwind. My drinking started to interfere with his work and relationships, and so I realised that I needed to make a change. After overcoming and getting help from Alcoholics Anonymous, they connected me with The Creative Mind to get back to producing music. I found the root of my burnout and made changes. I also found out that burnout and addiction are common challenges for artists, but with determination and support, it's possible to overcome these and find a path to recovery.
